A carriage bolt is a machine assembly that is used to fasten a moving object, such as a wheel, to a stationary object. The carriage bolt is installed from the side of the stationary object and screwed into the side of the moving object. A shaker screen bolt is used to secure an oscillating sieve in place atop a wellhole in order to prevent movement when material has been shaken out of it. They are also often called downhole bolts.
