Isopropyl Alcohol 99%, also called Isopropanol and sometimes referred to as IPA, is a very pure, colorless flammable liquid with a distinct odor. It has long been used as a universal cleaning and disinfecting solvent. Isopropyl Alcohol is HAPS free and less toxic than Methanol. It is popular for cleaning applications that require rapid drying and a clean residue free surface after use. Isopropyl Alcohol possess excellent anti-microbial, disinfecting and germ killing properties. It is a primary ingredient in hand sanitizers and is widely used for disinfecting surfaces and equipment in hospitals, labs, homes and schools. These properties also make IPA an excellent choice for many industrial cleaning processes. Common uses for Isopropyl Alcohol include removing flux residues, general cleaning to remove oil, grease, and other soils from metals, glass, plastics and electronic components. IPA is also used in chemical manufacturing and as an ingredient in some fuel drying additives.
Isopropyl Alcohol is a colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor and is highly miscible (mixes easily with water). It is non-corrosive to metals and plastics so is safe to use on a wide range of surfaces. Isopropyl Alcohol has a low flashpoint and must be stored and handled away from any ignition source.
It is also available in a 70% concentration which is popular as a ready to use (RTU) surface disinfectant. IPA is available in 1, 5 and 55 gallon sizes.
