Sheet Metal Screws, also known as Self-Tapping Screws, are fasteners with a fully threaded shank, sharp coarsely spaced threads and a pointed tip that allows them to fasten securely into thin gage metal, wood, plastics, fiberglass, composites and other suitable materials, typically when installed into a pre-drilled pilot hole. Please see the Technical Specifications section at the bottom of the page for a suggested Pilot Hole size.
Type 18-8 Stainless Steel screws are ideal for corrosion protection in wet, humid environments and exterior applications. 18-8 Stainless Steel fasteners may be slightly magnetic.
Type 316 Stainless Steel screws are recommended for their extreme corrosion resistance and are recommended for use in highly corrosive environments and Marine and Salt Water applications.
Sheet Metal Screws are available in head styles including Pan, Truss, Hex Washer and Countersunk Flat or Oval Heads. Common screw drive types include Phillips or Square Drive. Hex Washer Head Screws are installed using a nut setter or hex socket.
