Car Reamers are heavily built hole reamers typically used for truing, aligning, de-burring, reaming and enlarging undersized and/or misaligned holes in structural steel and heavy truck frames so a bolt or fastener can be inserted. Car reamers got their name from their original usage in Railroad Car manufacturing when it was frequently necessary to ream and enlarge poorly aligned holes in heavy steel plates and frames in order to assemble Railcars.
Fast Spiral Car Reamers feature a heavily webbed, aggressive 5-flute quick cutting design, are made of Hi-Tungsten tool steel with a gold surface treatment for maximum lubricity and ease of use. Reamers are Right-Hand cut with a Left-Hand Spiral, (Helix), that pushes the chips ahead of tool. They also feature an integrated Stop Collar and 3-Flats on the shank for a slip-free grip in the drill chuck.
