Fein Slugger high-speed steel annular cutters with 2" cut depth are used to create through-holes in metals up to 2" thick. Slugger cutters create smooth, consistent, high quality holes more quickly and economically than conventional twist bits. Annular cutters, often referred to as rota-broaches, have a unique cutting geometry that removes metal only at the O.D. of a drilled hole, (extending completely through the workpiece), releasing the central material as a metal slug when the hole has been cut. The center-free design of the cutter results in energy efficiency and reduced effort and cycle time. An operator can produce quality holes in metal 3 to 5 times faster than when using conventional twist drill bits. In addition, the Slugger's multiple cutting edges create an accurate, burr-free hole, minimizing the need for secondary operations such as pre-drilling and reaming. Please note: Annular cutters must be used with a cutting oil, paste or wax to achieve best results. Lubrication must occur inside the cutter bore to avoid overheating or premature failure of the cutter.
