W.L. Fuller Type “C” Countersinks are used to create countersunk and counterbored holes for the heads of screws in woods, plastics, and many non-ferrous materials. Mated with the correct size diameter pilot drill bit they allow the user to create in one-step a piloted screw hole that is also countersunk. Countersinks cut at an 82 degree angle to accommodate and properly seat the heads of standard flat and oval head countersunk screws. Manufactured of high strength steel for long tool life and a precise cut in all woods, plastics and some non-ferrous metals.
The countersink is held in place with 2 hex (Allen) socket set screws tightened against the body or flutes of the pilot drill bit, (bits sold separately), and is adjustable to be secured at any point on the drill bit. This countersink can be mounted and used with taper point, brad point or regular point drill bits. **Caution: Always confirm correct Pilot Hole Drill Size prior to use**
For correctly piloting holes for Wood Screws the use of a Fuller Tapered drill bit is recommended. Tapered drills pilot holes in wood afford greater gripping power for traditional tapered shank wood screws than standard twist drills because they match the tapers of their corresponding screw sizes, allowing the screw to grip the material along its entire length when installed.
